Winter Schedule 2012

Puppy Kindergarten- For Puppies eight weeks to six months. Classes are six weeks long and cost $135.00. New classes begin:

Thursday, January 26th at 10:00 am.
Wednesday, February 15th at 5:15 pm
Puppy Socialization Hour - For puppies under the age of six months, or small or shy older dogs. Sundays from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. $10 for each class attended. If you are not already a student of mine, you must bring your vaccination records.
Novice - A class for dogs that are over six months old with little or no training. You attend when it is convenient for you and move through the different levels at your own pace. Each class you attend is $28.00, or pre-pay six classes for $135.00 (a $33.00 savings). You have six months to complete the 6 classes. We are also offering an option of unlimited attendance for classes at your assigned novice level (1, 2, or 3), for $120.00 per month. An orientation is required before attending your first class.

Canine Good Citizenship® This will prepare you and your dog to earn the AKC Canine Good Citizenship® Certificate. $20 per session. Prerequisite: must have completed Novice Level 3, or have instructor's permission. Call for reservation.
Agility - Instructor: Kim-Marie Motado. A fun sport to develop confidence in your dog. Give them mental stimulation, physical exercise, and increase the bond between owner and handler. Dogs must have completed the three levels of Novice classes and have attended an orientation session. All levels of agility are now available for drop-in attendance; you have the option to pre-pay $135.00 for 6 classes, or $28.00 per class. If you have taken obedience classes elsewhere, I must talk to you before you attend your first class.

Conformation - Mondays, 7:00 pm -   Instructor: Barb Greene. Sessions will concentrate on teaching you how to show your dog in the breed ring. Learn the basics of hand-stacking, free-stacking, baiting, gaiting, ring procedures and attire will be covered. Videotaping to analyze performance will also be available. Dogs should be over four months of age.

Rally-Obedience - 5 classes for $115, or sign up for Treibball too and get both courses for $210, a $20 savings. Begins Thursday February 2nd. Classes will be held every other week: February 2 and 16, March 1, 15 and 29, 6:45 to 7:45 pm.   Instructor: Kathy Weaver. Thinking about taking your obedience training to the next level and competing in AKC Obedience, but would like to continue communicating with your dog in the ring? Want your dog to enthusiastically respond to your commands? Looking for another way to build a strong bond between you and your dog during training? Try Rally! The class will focus on fine-tuning your dog's response to obedience commands, and on learning the Novice-level Rally exercises. The goal is for you to quickly communicate the graphic rally signs and get an enthusiastic response from your dog throughout a rally course. Prerequisite: Puppy Perfectors Level 3 Obedience or instructor approval.

Flyball - Fridays from 7:15 to 8:30pm -  A dog race with four dogs on a team. A fast-paced sport that is a great energy release for those high-drive dogs. Open to all non-aggressive dogs. Drop-in format, $10 per class attended. Please email before attending your first class.

Dogalates = Dog + Yoga + Pilates - 4 week class for $50 - Begins Thursday, February 9. Classes will be held every other week, February 9 and 23, and March 8 and 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Instructor: Bethany O'Brien. In this class you will learn to incorporate your dog into your yoga and Pilates practice. Some moves will test your dog's obedience skills as you stretch and work your core, others will stretch and work your dog's body and yours. Breathe, work-out, relax and bond with your dog. Build stronger, leaner muscles increasing flexibility and core strength to reduce back and joint pain and assist in all your other activities including your regular dog walks/runs. This class is appropriate for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. All moves can be modified to accommodate the different bodies of both people and dogs. Always consult a physician before beginning a new exercise or fitness routine. Due to the nature of this class, aggressive dogs should not attend.

Treibball (pronounced try-ball) began in Germany to give energetic dogs some much needed mental and physical stimulation and it is a great new way to play with your dog. A competitive sport for dogs of all ages and sizes, it promotes better teamwork and communication between a dog and its handler. Treibball is fun for any dog who likes to chase, problem solve, needs a job or likes to herd. It also builds confidence for shy dogs and helps reactive dogs with impulse control. Space is limited so sign up soon!

Orientation - Required before attending drop-in classes. There is no charge and it is approximately one hour in duration. Do not bring your dog but do bring proof of current vaccinations. In the orientation you will gain an understanding of how the drop-in format style works and the requirements for each class. You can fill out all the necessary paperwork at orientation or download the registration form in advance and bring it with you. No reservations required.

Class Information:

We have a variety of dog training classes for you to choose from. For more detailed information about each class, click on the links below. Starting dates for new classes, duration of classes, and fees are available on the Schedule & Fees page.

Orientation: Required before attending drop-in classes. There is no charge and it is approximately one hour in duration. Do not bring your dog but do bring proof of current vaccinations.

Puppy Kindergarten: For puppies under 5½ months. Learn basic commands, encourage good manners, and develop important socialization skills with other dogs and people. Also good for older shy and fearful dogs.

Novice: For dogs (5½ months and older) with little or no training. This class is divided into 3 levels. Drop-in format.

Intermediate and Advanced: For dogs that have completed all three levels of the Novice program or by instructor approval.

Day Training: Let us train your dog while you are at work. We will customize the training program to your needs, providing your dog with socialization, mental stimulation and exercise throughout the day.

Rally-Obedience: Dogs and owners navigate through a course of 10 to 20 stations, each station has a skill that the dog must perform.

Dogalates In this class you will learn to incorporate your dog into your yoga and Pilates practice.

Clicks with a Trick Take positive reinforcement training to a new level with clicker training in our "Clicks with a Trick" class. You'll learn how to train simple and complex tricks while you're mastering clicker training techniques.

Treibball A competitive sport for dogs of all ages and sizes, it promotes better teamwork and communication between a dog and its handler. Treibball is fun for any dog who likes to chase, problem solve, needs a job or likes to herd.
