Does your dog love to politely visit new people?
Does your dog enjoy going to new places?
Are you comfortable talking and listening to new people?
Do you have time to volunteer to make a difference in someone’s life?
Therapy Dog volunteering can be an amazing experience. Watch a room of residents at an Assisted living facility fill with smiles as you enter with your dog. See a child start reading to your dog.
Join Diana Simonsen, CPDT-KA, CTDI to learn:
- The skills needed to pass all parts of the Therapy Dogs International and Pet Partners evaluations.
- How to behave with your dog around people using health-care equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc.), and people not accustomed to interacting with dogs.
- Methods to identify stress in your dog, and safe infection control procedures.
Prerequisite: Dog teams should have passed their AKC Canine Good Citizen test or have equivalent skills.
